Rock Box set-up in Urban Design for Deca – Everesting Official World Record – Zico Pieri
Last summer 2022 we had the pleasure and great honor of supporting yet another venture by Zico Pieri!
This time, our fellow villager achieved the Deca – Everesting Official World Record, climbing the summit of Mount Petrano 110 times by bicycle.
Everesting (fusion of Everest and cycling) consists in reaching the positive difference in altitude of 8848 meters of the highest mountain in the world, covering the same climb back and forth continuously. On 28 June 2022, Zico Pieri set a new record, repeating the Mount Petrano route 110 times in 11 days.
“Nature as a great ally in this physical but above all mental enterprise …. which involved hundreds of people, associations, administrations, companies and many people who worked hard to create this event and stay close to me in difficulties.” These are the words of our champion, who chose Monte Petrano becoming “symbol of the strength and determination of our hinterland”.
During the event, two base camps were set up in agreement with the municipal administrations. Rockolors took care of the decorative set-up of the Porta Massara Departure Village: the parking lot, located at the entrance to the city as well as at the start of the climb leading to Monte Petrano, hosted the sponsors and represented the basis for the event.
Our intervention involved the construction of an architectural Rock Box gabion, to redevelop and give new life to the existing wall. The Gjm Slim gabions, branded Ledrosteel, represent the ideal solution for building fence walls and adapts optimally to the urban environment. Stones of suitable sizes were used for the filling in four different shades: CAGLI WHITE, VERONA RED, SIENA YELLOW, ALPI GREEN.
To complete the magnificent installation, two colored benches from the Garden Line, filled with Tiffany-colored Rockolors stones and surmounted by a precious larch wood seat.
In agreement with the Comune di Cagli, our creation was maintained following the event and now continues to revive the main city parking lot.
